HNEC Community Update!
The Women's Summer Walk #99 is in the making and going to be a special walk. Lord may the walk be filled with the Holy Spirit and meaningful to those on the Team as well as the pilgrims.
A reminder the next Gathering and Followup Meeting for Walk #99 will be on August 11 at Cypress UMC. Mark your calendar now. Sponsors remember to get your pilgrims to this Gathering and enjoy a night of fellowship. As a special feature, the Upper Room (UR), who directs the Emmaus Ministry, has a representative who will be at the Gathering to communicate with the Board and the Community as a whole. This will be a good opportunity to hear an UR representative. Hopefully, there will be time for a couple of questions. Would be great to have a nice turnout. We always brag about the HNEC Community.
Team Selection is completed for the Fall Walks. With your help the Summer and Fall walks will bless 108 more pilgrims. If you are called to work on a Team make it a priority in your schedule.
Notice that 2019 Walk Dates have been added to help for planning purposes. It is the right time to start getting dates planned for those unable to make one of this year’s walks. At least get calendar dates marked to reserve the walk date you and your pilgrim want.
For those of you that have trouble getting a good time on the Prayer Clock, notice that the Prayer Clocks for all three remaining 2018 walks are on this site and ready for you to sign up. If you haven't been a part of the Prayer Clock before, I think you will have a very blessed experience. The Lord wants 30 minutes discussion time with you.
The three main areas we are focused on for this year continue to be:
Upcoming walks present the opportunity to serve on a Team and deepen your understanding and love of Emmaus, and/or invite a pilgrim on a walk and bless him/her. If you are on a Team, you can get a co-sponsor outside the Team to partner with you and bring a pilgrim along so your pilgrim will have the full sponsor support. Try this approach.
Thanks for your boldness in asking friends and family to go on an Emmaus Walk. Others have shared that they were a little surprised at those folks who have said “Yes” to experiencing an Emmaus Walk. Just shows we need to ask folks and let the Holy Spirit and them determine which walk they should attend. You never can tell when you might be the Lord's instrument for deepening a person's spiritual growth and service. Our Lord calls us to "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…" Matthew 28:19. “Stay Bold! Emmaus is a great way to honor this call.
We continue to need your prayers for the ministry, leadership, and pilgrims. Your prayers have nurtured the team members, pilgrims and community in general as we prepare for another walk. The big payoff is what happens when the Holy Spirit moves the people who attend and/or work on the walk. We know from experience that Miracles will be done on this weekend. Keep all in your prayers.
Stay prayerfully vigilant. We continue to look for clergy to support the Walks. If you have Emmaus clergy ask if they might serve. Bobby Hantelman - 281-744-2253, firstname.lastname@example.org, the Clergy Community Growth Board member, is available to talk with clergy, to answer any questions, and to explain what service opportunities are available. Folks say Clergy are more willing to serve if asked by one of their congregation.
Participate with your support and service. Nothing conveys your interest and love of the Emmaus Ministry like your smiling face and presence. Invariably folks who attend candlelight and closings add the warmth and enthusiasm of their Emmaus experience and enrich the gathering for all attendees.
Participation and service continue to grow. Keep it up! Continue to look at the website and signup under "Community Servanthood" for opportunities for service on the upcoming Women’s Walk. Lord bless our service to experience the fullness of the Joy you intend for us. Look forward to sharing another Closing to hear what the new 4th Day wants to share. Don’t you think that is always special?
Thanks for your commitment and service!
